British elections: are polls still reliable?

“(…) if these recent elections are any indication, the polling industry might be stuck in limbo: telephone polls are increasingly unreliable and too expensive, while Internet polling isn’t yet able to replace truly random surveys”.

At the following link you can find a  deeply interesting article from Politico.com  about the changes (and the challenges) introduced by technology into polling. The issue has become current after the unexpected victory of the Conservatives in the British general elections last Thursday. Actually, nobody predicted such a majority. Have a nice weekend.
